COMMON QUESTIONS

A Leader In Mental & Behavioral Healthcare!

WHO WILL HAVE ACCESS TO WHAT I SHARE IN THERAPY?
In therapy, people discuss many of the concerns that they have been unable to share with others. Some fear attending therapy because they are uncertain who or what will be shared with others outside of therapy. Unlike friends and family members, therapists are guided by confidentiality. Confidentiality means that, for the most part, what you share in therapy is remains between the therapists and consumer (you). There are few exceptions to that rule, however, those exceptions are always discussed in therapy.
HOW DO I SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT?
Scheduling an appointment is easy. You can email us at sankofabch@gmail.com or call us at 608.285.9101. If you leave a message when you call, leave your name and phone number and we will return your call within 24 hours. During our initial contact, we will assess some of your needs and try to schedule your first appointment with a therapist within one week. Unlike other agencies, we do not believe in you having to wait for services for six weeks or longer. We understand that when you need help, it is important that we try aide you as quickly as possible. We want to be of service to you when you are ready.
HOW LONG DO APPOINTMENTS LAST?
The length of appointments depends on what is being done during each appointment. For consultation, case management, or assessments appointment times will be estimated prior to the appointment. Therapy appointments are referred to as sessions. Depending on your needs, sessions may be in an individual, family, or group format. Generally, sessions last between 45 minutes and 90 minutes long. The length of sessions depend on a variety of factors including insurance, session format, and concerns.
HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?
The cost of each appointment will depend on therapist's expertise, education, and other factors. Fees and payment are often determined by insurances, too.

WHEN DO I PAY FOR SERVICES?
Any fees paid out-of-pocket by the consumer (you) are expected at the time of services, unless prior arrangements have been made. We will try to accurately inform you of any payment that will be expected prior to your first session. However, changes to insurance may alter your contributions towards the bill prior to the first session and during treatment. While we will try to keep you informed of any changes in your insurance, you are ultimately financially responsible for all services received at SankofaBCH.
